An impressive milestone: Custers celebrates three workplace anniversaries!

At Custers, we are proud of our craftsmanship, but we are even prouder of the people who make it happen every single day. This April and May, we are celebrating no less than three special work anniversaries: Marianne and Ad have both been with us for 40 years, and Martin is celebrating his 25th anniversary. Together, they account for an impressive 105 years of experience, passion, and dedication!

Marianne: The administrative heart of Custers for 40 years

Marianne started her career at Custers straight out of school through a temp agency. Over those four decades, she has seen the company change tremendously. Where she used to sit quite literally among massive stacks of paper, she now works in a fully system-driven environment.

"It’s great to work close to home for an employer that offers flexibility," Marianne says. Although the technical sector is often seen as a 'man's world', she felt completely at ease here from day one. She especially appreciates the freedom she was given to master new skills. Outside of work, Marianne doesn't sit still either: she is a huge sports enthusiast (cycling, Ajax, and F1) and loves travelling to Ireland as well as far-flung destinations like Iceland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Ad: 40 years of craftsmanship and passion for engineering

Ad is also celebrating his 40th anniversary. He ended up at Custers through an acquaintance from his village after his previous employer went bankrupt. Ad started out as a steel welder and spent years working in the Service & Repair department. Sitting still is not in his vocabulary; recently, he even mastered aluminum welding through internal training.

The highlight of his job? The large-scale projects where he could build a machine from A to Z. "What I enjoyed most was transferring an aerial work platform onto a new truck chassis. The truck was worn out, but the Custers platform was nowhere near finished. That makes me proud," Ad says. In his spare time, he is a proud grandfather and loves heading out with his mountain bike or hiking boots.

Martin: 25 years as Service Manager back at the 'home base'

Martin is a familiar face to many. Although he has been with the company continuously for 25 years, his first introduction to Custers goes back more than 40 years. After a 12-year detour, he returned to his old home base as Service Manager, a role he has now happily fulfilled for a quarter of a century.

For Martin, Custers is an ideal and socially minded employer. He enjoys the customer contact, the variety, and the freedom to visit unique locations. Alongside his coordinating duties, he still loves to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in. "We are an open company; we address things directly when needed, but we also truly celebrate successes and staff outings together." When Martin is not at work, you can find him doing DIY projects at his children's houses, playing his horn or accordion, or enjoying time with his granddaughter.
