Innovative custom solutions for tunnel maintenance: Two advanced CS9TM aerial platforms for Equans

Recently, we proudly delivered two advanced CS9TM scissor lifts to Equans. This is a wonderful continuation of a previously successful collaboration. In 2020, we already had the privilege of delivering a first CS9TM (at the time to Engie), which was mounted on a MAN chassis. Due to their high level of satisfaction with this machine, Equans immediately ordered two additional units for a major new maintenance contract they secured last year. In close consultation with the client and the actual users on the shop floor, we have further optimized the design for this new generation and perfectly tailored it to their requirements.

Powerful build and unique driving characteristics at heigh

For this project, the new CS9TM scissor lifts are built on the robust 4x2 chassis of a Volvo FM12 truck. This ensures rapid and stable transport to the location. However, what makes this version truly special is the innovative steering system: the truck can be fully driven and steered from the platform while the technicians are already at height. For repetitive work over longer distances, this saves an enormous amount of time, as the lift does not have to be retracted every time.

Fully equipped, lit, and extendable work platform

The work platform has been designed down to the last detail for maximum efficiency. It is equipped with 4 separately extendable side decks, allowing the work surface and reach to be flexibly increased to suit the work situation. To ensure the safe and easy loading and unloading of tools and materials, the platform features a large access gate.

Additionally, the technicians have all necessary utilities right at their fingertips; the platform is equipped with power, compressed air, and a water supply. Because visibility in tunnels is often limited, the platform is also fitted with powerful spotlights on its 4 corners. This allows the workspace—in this case, the tunnel ceilings—to be optimally and brightly illuminated.

The ideal solution for the Brussels tunnel network

Equans will deploy these two new powerhouses for their new contract: the specialized maintenance of all tunnels on several highways around Brussels. When inspecting, cleaning, or repairing technical installations, lighting, and ventilation systems in these tunnels, it is crucial to work smoothly, safely, and autonomously. Thanks to the unique combination of the extendable side platforms, the integrated utilities, the powerful lighting, and the ability to operate the vehicle while driving from the work basket, these aerial platforms are the ultimate solution for this project.

We thank Equans for their continued trust and wish the maintenance team many safe and productive working hours in the Brussels tunnels!
